About
For over 20 years, I have been studying food systems as networks. I am particularly interested in understanding how multiple food systems co-exist within the same places and evolve over time. My research is action oriented and based on extensive fieldwork and direct policy engagement.
Teaching "The Global Food Economy" in the Master in Food Studies at AUR has been an incredibly fulfilling experience, allowing me to engage with and mentor young professionals who are deeply committed to driving meaningful change in food systems.

Since 2024, I have served as the coordinator of the Food Waste Working Group at the Rome Food Policy Council.. This experience made me realize both the immense potential of Food Policy Councils (FPCs) and the practical challenges they face in practice.
Together the Rome FPC and my colleagues we decided to launch "Food Policy Councils in Action!"—a workshop designed to create a participatory space for FPCs to reflect, strategize, and strengthen their impact.
I hope this initiative will foster a long-lasting community of practitioners and researchers, working together to make food policy more effective, inclusive, and action-oriented.
